Me and Mori made this quilt and it came it great! Haven’t finished a quilt in a bit so I’m feeling especially good about this one. I have a lot of thoughts about modern quilting, or let’s say “magazine” quilting, but in short my personal rules are: prioritize using fabric that’s around, don’t know what it looks like until it’s done, and it goes on a bed. Stay loose stay lively have fun, and use a decent seam allowance. Your rules may differ (except for “decent seam allowance” which is universal). The major advancement here is that I finally learned how to edge properly! Diagonal seams on the edging and everything. #quilting #traditionalquilt #folkart

Designed some new stickers for @analogunderground :•) “record store”. Made one design for people that like when things are lively and one design for people that need things to be clearly defined :•) pick them up in the store or look for them on a lamppost somewhere

I had a small problem with this guy today and I was able to quickly figure it out and fix it with no tools other than a small screwdriver. Now it’s back to sewing like a dream. I love this machine! Got it from @dan_action almost 20 years ago- since then I’ve broken one needle, fixed the timing once (without having any idea what I was doing), and put maybe 15 drops of oil in various places. Absolutely perfect hall-of-fame machine. Let’s hear it for good tools, good design, and things that are built with repair in mind! #singer #featherweight

My favorite graffito, “BB KING” in front of the church on Broadway, is eroding. So when I found a bit of wet concrete further down the street yesterday, I echoed it. That’s what we’re looking at here. I got to the scene late and the concrete was pretty dry, i couldn’t get deep in there. I was happy to see it last till this morning when I took the pic, probably won’t last much longer. BB King isn’t my favorite guitarist in the world, but I like things that are sweet, when people work hard to make something beautiful, and when people revere their instrument. And I always wonder who wrote his name in front of the church. Was it BB himself? I don’t know. I know who drew the pumpkin but I’m not gonna say. Very inspired choice! 🎃

Check it out- CTRI Innovations now has an application deadline, it’s one week from now. If you’ve been putting off applying because you’ll get to it one of these days, you now have one week to do it. OK to apply for way in the future with a vague date. Link in bio. Had a great time with Dean last week (pictured). I’m proud to say it’s New England’s Objectively Best Residency Or Grant Program.

I’m getting new glasses and new pants so for the record here’s what I look like now, which is also “before”, as I’ve looked like this for a bit now: bleached hair with roots, these foggy glasses, blue sweatshirt that says MOON CHILD, puffy black coat, Jervyn’s Clasp hat (black), one hand noticably larger than the other. Last time I changed my style of pants it was so drastic I felt like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis. That feeling, coupled with the literal new perspective of new glasses… this time around who knows what I’ll be? Maybe water, maybe sand, maybe a crystal cathedral with horse choir and roller rink. Hopefully both hands will return to equal size but at the present time I will make no demands upon form.

Just had a great residency with Ellen @LNcelestine, we talked about Johannes Kepler, teaching, Noise Nomads, and contact mic workshops. If you want to apply to the CTRI Innovations artists residency, in which I buy you a cup of coffee and we chat for usually about 90 minutes, the link is in the bio. It’s ok to apply way in advance or without a clear date in mind. I love to talk to people about their projects and maybe help them think around a problem, and it’s a key part of my practice to regularly have a conversation with someone interesting. Ellen was resident #76 and came, appropriately, from Philadelphia.
