I had a dream last night set here, in Habitat, except it was half Disneyworld half Job Lot. I was meeting with a literary agent and we were just strolling around the elevated walkways when we found a big group of friends all waiting in some sort of line (Davey was there). We hung out for a sec but I didn’t want to lose the thread with my agent so we bowed out. Walking away I said “ok, hang loose everyone!” And then I counted 1-2-3 and everyone said in unison HANG LOOSE! even the agent. Everybody laughed, shocked at the giddy joy of suddenly being on such a silly wave. I woke up laughing! Shout out to the Hairies, to the residents of Wild Area and Habitat, to you in my dream, and to my agent. Hang loose!

Bathroom library is poetry, king cat, ku nel, “weird words” and that’s it. I got let go from a writing gig on a web site for saying “put poetry books in the john so you’re not looking at your phone all the time”, I forgot that that was the hand that was feeding me. Anyway here I am, on a web site, on my phone, in the bathroom. This translation of Catallus is really fun (Frank O Copley), Rumi rules, and King Cat… c’est magnifique. “A lot of great hits / were written on the john / I hope my legendary style of rap lives on” -Biz Markie

I have completed the first step in making a preposterous website for my zine archive- scanning in all covers. Pearl Pony’s “The Ghostbuster of Terror” was the last one in, though I just realized (while typing this comment) that I have to do all the Mothers News back issues too. The collection is comprised of nearly 1500 pieces and includes nearly every zine that anyone ever handed me, sent me, or traded to me. The next step is adding metadata, and getting everything in chronological order. I don’t have a great reason for why I’m doing this, but its nice so far to see the breadth of this format, to see how many possibilities there are, and to imagine how many reasons one could have for making a mark on a piece of paper and handing it to someone. Thank you to everyone that handed me a zine over the years, or dropped it somewhere I could find it! Probably going to drop an early version of the page with a call for suggestions on how to proceed early next week.

Papa Jaan told me this Shopkins’ name is Khia Board. It’s nice to think that an instrument you play (like a keyboard) is also something you play with (like a dog).

CTRI Innovations is my artists residency program that lasts about 90min on average and takes place during a conversation over coffee (or tea) with me. You may find it helpful to talk out your ideas with someone without the expectation of coming to a conclusion. Maybe you just want to drink a cup of coffee (or tea) with me. Maybe we’re already friends, maybe we never met! Maybe we’re somewhere nebulously in between. All valid! I’ve done over a hundred of these residencies in the past year or so– full list with details on each instance, plus application, at the link in my bio. Pictured is Evan Raczynski, hi Evan!

I’ve been trying to solve the puzzle of how to make a Mothers News book for a long time. I would like it to be reprints of the writing plus new memoir / behind the scenes material, but how to arrange it, design it… that all escapes me. I would love to work with a good designer but how do you get there? In my mind the cover looks exactly like this Kryon book- magenta with gold-stamped globe and pearlesent blackletter. But I promised myself I would try to make something that strangers might look at and actually want. Maybe like a box of Life cereal. Next year will be the tenth anniversary of the very first issue, I would love to have a nice book for my shelf.
